Reins (“the App”) is developed and maintained by İbrahim Çetin (“we”, “us”, or “our”). Reins is a client app for self-hosted Ollama, LM Studio, and other OpenAI-compatible server instances, and also supports running compatible models directly on your device (“on-device models”).

We respect your privacy. The app is designed so that we do not collect or receive your personal data.

1. Data Collection and Storage

We do not collect, store, or monitor any personal data, chat history, or prompts.

  • Local Storage: All chat history, settings, server configurations, and downloaded on-device models are stored locally on your device.
  • No Tracking: We do not use any analytics, tracking pixels, or telemetry to monitor your usage of the App.

2. Data Transmission to Third-Party AI Services

The App does not provide a built-in AI service. Instead, it acts as a bridge to a server provided by the user (typically a local Ollama, LM Studio, or other OpenAI-compatible instance).

  • User-Controlled Destination: Any data (such as prompts or images) entered into the App is sent directly to the server address (URL) that you explicitly provide in the settings.
  • No Intermediation: We do not sit in the middle of this connection. Data is transmitted directly from your device to your specified endpoint.
  • Third-Party Disclosure: Reins does not send your prompts, chat content, images, or other inference data to third-party AI providers on its own behalf.

3. On-Device Models

The App allows you to download and run supported models directly on your device.

  • On-Device Processing: When you use an on-device model, your prompts, images, and generated responses are processed entirely on your device and are never transmitted to us or to any external server.
  • Model Downloads: Model files are downloaded directly from Hugging Face, a third-party model repository. This requires a network connection to Hugging Face’s servers and is subject to Hugging Face’s own privacy policy. We do not act as an intermediary for these downloads and do not receive any data from them.
  • Local Network Sharing: The App allows your device to act as a server, exposing an on-device model to other devices on the same local network. This feature is disabled by default — it only becomes active if you explicitly turn it on. If you enable it:
    • Any device on your local network can discover and connect to your device to send prompts and receive responses, without requiring a password or other authentication.
    • This traffic stays entirely within your local network and is never routed through us or any external server.
    • You are solely responsible for the security of your local network. We recommend only enabling this feature on trusted, private networks (such as your home network), and not on public or shared Wi-Fi, since anyone on the same network may be able to access the shared model while sharing is active.

By entering a server URL into the App settings and initiating a chat, you are instructing Reins to send the relevant data to that specific destination (including, where applicable, your own device or other devices on your local network).

  • You can stop these activities at any time by clearing your server settings, deleting downloaded models, disabling local network sharing, or deleting the App.
  • Reins will never send data to a third-party service without your direct input of a destination address, and never sends on-device processing data anywhere beyond your own device or local network.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
